Coach McGuire is an accomplished water polo coach, educator, and former collegiate athlete who has been involved in the sport for nearly two decades. A Southern California native, she grew up playing competitive water polo, competed in several Junior Olympics, participated in the Olympic Development Program (ODP), and was a nationally ranked high school player. She continued her career at the collegiate level, earning Western State Conference recognition and ranking among the top 10% in goals scored in the CCCAA. Throughout her playing career, she had the opportunity to train under accomplished coaches and Olympians, including John Siman, Christopher Prewitt, Terry Schroeder and Tony Azevedo.
Coach McGuire has coached athletes across all age-group and high school levels in both Southern and Northern California, helping players develop their skills and pursue opportunities at the collegiate level. She currently serves as the Head of Age Group Water Polo Programs at Burlingame Aquatic Club and the Head Water Polo and Swim Coach at Lick-Wilmerding High School.
In addition to her coaching experience, Coach McGuire holds a B.A. in Education from San Francisco State University and has approximately 10 years of experience as an educator. Her background in education and child development strongly influences her coaching philosophy. By combining nearly two decades of water polo experience with her expertise in education and child development, Coach McGuire focuses on developing the whole athlete through strong fundamentals, water polo IQ, teamwork, discipline, resilience, and leadership, creating a competitive and supportive environment where athletes can grow both in and out of the pool.
