  • Coach McGuire:Head Water Polo Coach of Age Group Programs & Lead HS Boys and Girls Coach

    Coach McGuire is a highly skilled and accomplished coach, educator, and athlete with over 15 years of experience in water polo and a 10 year background as an educator. She holds a B.A. in Education from San Francisco State University and has built a career that seamlessly integrates her expertise in athletics, music, and child development. Her work focuses on the growth of young athletes and students, both in and out of the classroom. With a degree in Education, Coach McGuire has dedicated her career to applying educational principles to both music and sports, with an emphasis on child development. This integrated approach has enabled her to create programs that support the development of young athletes, fostering growth in technical, mental, and emotional skills.Coach McGuire’s extensive experience in water polo is highlighted by her accomplishments as both a competitor and coach. A Southern California native and nationally ranked player in high school, she earned varsity status all four years and achieved First Team honors in both her junior and senior years. She also competed five times at the Junior Olympic level and was part of the Olympic Development Program. She continued her water polo career playing collegiately, representing CSUF, SFSU, Fullerton, and Ventura College, where she earned recognition in the Western State Conference and ranked in the top 10% for goals scored in the CCCAA. She trained under world-class coaches, including Paralympic goalie Christopher Prewitt and Olympians John Siman, Terry Schroeder, and Tony Azevedo.
    As a coach, she has guided athletes at various levels. She has coached in Socal and helped various athletes complete the process in playing at the collegiate level. She currently serves as the Head Coach for the water polo and swim teams at Lick-Wilmerding High School, as well as the Head of the Water Polo Age Group Programs at Burlingame Aquatic Club. She specializes in creating training environments that combine technical skill development with the cultivation of teamwork, resilience, and discipline. Coach McGuire's dedication to education extends beyond the pool. In addition to her coaching career, she has taught music to students of all ages in both private and public school settings She has served as an educator for non-profit organization The Harmony Project in Los Angeles. Her ability to connect her background in music education with her coaching practice has made her a highly effective mentor and leader. She believes in the power of education to shape well-rounded individuals and strives to create an environment where athletes can thrive academically, personally, and athletically.

  • Coach Jewell: Lead 14u

    Coach Jewell's water polo journey began on a recreational team in Portland, Oregon, where he first honed his skills as a goalie. His first USAWP tournament as a 14u was in Washington, at an athletic club outside in the pouring rain. At Westview High School, he played four years on the Varsity Water Polo team, serving as co-captain during his senior year. After attending the University of Utah, Coach Jewell helped lead his team to a 4th place finish at the CWPA Club National Tournament, placing behind powerhouse teams like USC, UCLA, and Texas in his Sophomore year. Later, back in Oregon, he took on coaching roles for the 10U and 12U teams at Lake Oswego Water Polo (LOWPO). In 2017, Coach Jewell attended the USAWP Holiday Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, where he was drawn to refereeing. Back home, he found that his favorite part of practice was refereeing the scrimmage at the end of the night, so he began his referee career working at the High School level and progressed to refereeing for USA Water Polo in the Pacific Northwest Zone. He traveled and refereed in various regions, including California, Pacific, Southern Pacific, and Southwest Zone. His dedication and skill as a referee led him to officiate at five consecutive Junior Olympics. In 2022, he moved to California, spending time in San Diego, Orange, and now San Mateo County, where he continued to grow his career and earned a spot on the CWPA collegiate club referee list, coming full circle to referee the level he once played at. He attended the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he had the pleasure to witness the Women's Gold Medal match firsthand. With over 7 years of experience, refereeing an average of 400 games per year, Coach Jewell has seen water polo at its highest level. His deep understanding of the game, combined with his focus on developing players through a growth mindset, will be invaluable to our team. He is committed to teaching the fundamentals of the game, skill development, and creating an environment where players can thrive one step at a time.

  • Coach Jeremy: Lead 12u

    Coach Jeremy began his aquatic journey with competitive swimming before transitioning to water polo at Aragon High School, where he developed a passion for the game. Since joining BAC in 2022, he has coached various age groups, including 10u, 12u, and 14u, and was appointed lead coach for the 12u program this year. He is dedicated to creating a positive atmosphere for young athletes, focusing on building a strong foundation in the fundamentals of water polo while encouraging individual skill development. His commitment to nurturing talent and instilling confidence ensures that every athlete feels supported in their growth

  • Coach Ira:Assistant HS Group Coach and Substitute

    Coach Ira is a dedicated coach, instructor, and athlete with experience in competitive swimming and water polo. Based in San Francisco, he is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at San Francisco State University, building on his strong foundation in film and digital media from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has served as an assistant swim and water polo coach at Lick-Wilmerding High School. He also worked as a swim instructor and lifeguard at La Petite Baleen and is a current Lifeguard at BAC. His background in competitive swimming includes Newbury Park High School swim team, Oaks Christian High School club swim team, and Ventura College swim team. He played club water polo at UCSC and SFSU, further refining his skills as both an athlete and team leader. He continues to apply his expertise both in and out of the pool, fostering growth, discipline, and excellence in the athletes he coaches.

  • Coach Arman: Lead 10u Coach and Assistant Coach For HS AG Program

    Coach Arman discovered his passion for water polo in middle school and has over six years of lifeguard experience. Currently, he coaches the JV girls' team at Aragon High School while studying and playing polo at CSM. Over the past seven years, Arman has developed his skills and experienced firsthand how the sport can enhance personal growth and teamwork. He is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where young players can thrive and enjoy the sport. Arman looks forward to guiding the next generation as they create lasting memories in water polo.
