Ray Laughlin

Coach Ray started his coaching career in 1987 with the Valley Vista Barracudas in Walnut Creek. He continued working at several small clubs until 1997, at which time he landed at De Anza Cupertino Aquatics (DACA). While at DACA he coached at every level, from lessons to Junior Olympic to Senior.

After a decade of coaching in Cupertino, Ray decided to find a job closer to home and accepted an offer to become the Head Coach of the San Mateo Marlins Masters. After coaching with SMM for two years, during which time he received a ‘Coach of the Year’ nomination, Ray is very excited to bring his positive attitude and enthusiasm to the Burlingame Masters program. As the Head Coach of the BAC Masters team, Ray will continue his excellent work with the age group program’s Pre-Comp, Barracuda, and Bronze groups.

Coach Ray’s philosophy about coaching is simple: if people like coming to practice, they will come. If they keep coming, they will get better. There is no silver bullet to getting better; you improve one practice at a time.
