Elena Woo Club Swimmming Assistant Coach |
Elena is the primary on-deck coach for the Pre-Comp and Bronze groups. She uses her enthusiasm for the sport of swimming to create a fun learning environment for young athletes while at the same time offering them the skills training they need to be successful for years to come. Elena began coaching for BAC in the summer of 2000 as part of the club’s initial coaching staff. She came to BAC with a wide range of coaching and teaching experiences, getting her first taste of teaching swimming in the summer of 1991 while volunteering for the local swimmer-aide program. In 1998 she started teaching swim lessons and life-guarding for the city of Pacifica, work that she is still currently involved with. She was a volunteer coach for the South San Francisco Aquatic Club during 1997, learning valuable coaching skills under the tutelage of head coach Marcus Nava. She brought that coaching experience back to her long time swim team the Pacifica Sea Lions, where she was an athlete for twelve years prior to coaching from 1997 to 1999. Elena also spent five summers working with the Serra Swim School where she gained even more insight about swimming. Elena on coaching: "Having grown up as an athlete in this area, I have a tremendous love for the Pacific Swimming Zone that has given me so much. While I aspire to produce great athletes, my goal is to teach all of my swimmers the love for swimming that I was so lucky to have found." |
