The Summer Swim
Team (SST) is a program that teaches young athletes, Ages 6-18,
the basics of all four competitive strokes. Participants get the
experience of being on a swim team in a fun and “low-pressure
swimming environment” while learning the fundamentals of swimming
from a professional coaching staff. Developmentally, SST fits in
between swim lessons, and the year-round competitive swim team,
Burlingame Aquatics (BAC).
The SST is a
great opportunity for kids, young adults, and parents to get an
idea of what year-round swimming has to offer. The program is open
to any swimmer who has some background in swimming lessons, and
can complete 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. During the 5-week
program, the team will participate in 3-4 "swim meets"
or "time trials". The goal of these competitions is to
“beat the clock”, gain satisfaction from personal improvement
and take part in a spirited and fun team activity. Every swimmer
will receive a medal at the conclusion of the season.
Any
child interested in the SST but can not make the time commitment
are welcome to try-out for BAC's Pre-Comp/Bronze groups which participate
in the afternoons 3:30-4:15 & 4:15- 5:15 respectively. For more
